"Talcott's Reserve" - Apple Brandy Barrel-Aged Pure Maple Syrup

$23.00
Sold Out

This limited-production batch of syrup is crafted by starting with 100% pure maple syrup and then aging it for 6 months inside of reclaimed oak apple brandy barrels.

Throughout the aging process, some of the warm flavors of the spirit and barrel infuse into the syrup, creating a delicious syrup that is a perfect treat for any occasion! We find that the syrup has a strong nose of apple with a bourbon finish, all wrapped up in a maple-y package! This syrup is perfect on pancakes, and is delightful over ice cream!

We have named this batch of syrup “Talcott’s Reserve”. Back in the 1940’s, the town of Hartland Hollow was slowly purchased by the MDC in order for them to create a reservoir to serve the Hartford area. Throughout the process of purchasing individual properties, there were some notable hold-outs and, as legend has it, one such resident’s ultimate decision to sell his property and move away had a huge impact on the remainder of town as he made a variety of spirits, including apple brandy in his illegal distillery. Throughout the making of this syrup we kept thinking of this legend so decided to name it in his honor.

This limited-production batch is bottled in a unique swing-top glass bottle that is commonly used for bottling homemade spirits. The bottle holds one pint, 16oz of premium barrel-aged syrup.
